Position Scop:

Develop, maintain and monitor procedures for all Server backups
Monitor, plan and co-ordinate the distribution of client/server software and service packs
Makes recommendations for new equipment and services, works with various IT vendors for procurement
Systems upgrade by conferring with vendors and services – developing, testing, evaluating and installing enhancements and new software
Perform on-site and remote technical support
Assist in the organization and inventory of all hardware and software resources
Protects organization’s value by keeping information confidential
Regularly consult and update the Technical Support Manager on all IT-related issues
Requirement:
Desired Skills & Qualifications in:

At least 2 years experience in a busy IT driven environment.

The Agronomist is under the Food Security and Livelihoods (FSL) department. Responsibilities:

Train ACF and community members on best agronomic practices (row planting, spacing and irrigation techniques and post harvest handling)
Perform regular field checks and identify problems and come up with a possible solutions
Together with the FSL team, Develop community training guide; conduct training for programme participants;
Monitor programme implementation and individual household and community project progress;
Support the PM in identifying suitable staples and vegetables for Karamoja region;
Conduct germination test for the various crop and vegetable seeds;
Monitoring of field activities to verify if the skills and knowledge gained are applied on the ground;
Provide information or recommendations to farmers or other land owners regarding ways in which they can best use land, promote plant growth, or avoid or correct problems such as erosion;
Develop methods of conserving or managing soil that can be applied by farmers;
Conduct research to determine best methods of planting, spraying, cultivating, harvesting, storing, processing, transporting horticultural products and value additions;
Conduct regular programme monitoring field activities and review against target.
Participate in new programme development.
Act as a link between ACF and programme participants.
Work closely with district production officer and the sub county community development officers and development agents.
Explain programme objectives and activities to stakeholders and participants
Together with the PM, is responsible for internal and external reports like weekly (FSL Sitrep), monthly, quarterly and final reports with respect of the formats and deadlines with all indicators.
Contribute to the monthly and quarterly donor report and strips.
With PM, ensure that reporting is followed according to guidelines and formats.
Requirement:
Academic Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science in Agriculture (Soil Science)/ Natural Resources Management/Environmental Sciences.
Experience:

2 years/ Solid previous food security/development studies experience
Specific Skills:

Good written and spoken English. Knowledge of Ngakarimojong an asset.
Excellent computer skills (MS- office and spread sheets, Analytical software are assets,)
Good management, communication, team spirit, community participation and capacity building (training), report and proposal writing

Construction Supervisor

ACF seeks to hire 2 (two) highly competent, dynamic and experienced Construction Supervisors; one will be based in Moroto and another one will be based in Kaabong

The Construction Supervisor reviews the feasibility and design of community roads and micro-dams through coordination with district engineering department. He/she is also responsible for the implementation of the public works activities through food for work, and cash for work in Napak or Kaabong Districts of Karamoja. He/she assists the Food Security & Livelihoods Program Manager in the follow up of implementing, organizing training for beneficiaries and programme staff. He is further participating in the designing of PWP sub projects. He/she will report to the FSL Program Manager of the area.

Responsibilities Include:

♦    Ensure that field staffs are properly trained on supervising the public works components of programme;

♦    Design and planning of community road and micro-dam construction;

♦    Review the feasibility and technical designs of community roads and dams;

♦   Conduct technical supervision on dam and road works;

♦   Oversee planning and implementation of field staff activities;

♦    Develop participant training materials (with the FSL team) for improved dam and road works as they relate to the programme goal and objectives;

Watershed Management Officer

ACF now seeks to hire two (2) highly competent, dynamic and experienced Watershed Management Officers; one will be based in Moroto and another one will be based in Kaabong.

The WSMO Plan or develop coordinated practices for soil erosion control, soil or water conservation, or sound land use through interventions such as food for work, and cash for work in Napak /Kaabong Districts of Karamoja region, Northeast Uganda. He/ she assists the FSL Programme Manager in the follow up of implementing, organizing training, and database of all components of the programs and work with district Water and production officers. He/she will assist in assuring objectives progressed and are achieved according to the framework/proposals & protocols. Responsibilities:

♦   Develop and implement soil and water management techniques, such as erosion control, buffers, or filter strips, in accordance with conservation plans.

♦   Advise land users, such as farmers or pastoralists, on plans, problems, or alternative conservation solutions.

- Compute cost estimates of different conservation practices, based on needs of land users, maintenance requirements, or life expectancy of the scheme.

♦   Help the farmers to establish furrow irrigation.

♦   Evaluate or recommend geographic information systems (GIS) applications to address issues such as surface water quality, groundwater quality, ecological risk assessments, or environmental contamination.

♦   Plan soil management or conservation practices, such as crop rotation, reforestation, permanent vegetation, contour plowing, or terracing, to maintain soil or conserve water.

♦   Review proposed wetland restoration assessments or provide technical recommendations.

♦   Develop water conservation or harvest plans, using weather information systems, irrigation information management systems, or other sources of daily evapo-transpiration (ET) data

♦   Develop, conduct, or participate in surveys, studies, or investigations of various land uses to inform corrective action plans.

♦   Analyze results of investigations to determine measures needed to maintain or restore proper soil management.

♦   Act as a link between ACF and programme participants and the district line departments

Responsibilities:

•    Provide general technical support to food security and livelihood programmes.

•    Be proactive in consolidating and following up program deadlines and work plan.

•    Coordinate and document all field reports; including donor reports, monthly reports and weekly situation reports.

•    Critically review program documents before submission to the coordinator.

•    Follow up that program monitoring and evaluation is conducted on time and that data is verified.

•    Provide assistance in food security situation monitoring and situation analysis.

•     Provide support in capacity building of national staff.

Requirement:
Academic Qualifications:

♦   University degree in agricultural economics, economics, development or any applied social sciences, post graduate education is an asset.

Experience:

♦   Minimum of 3 years of meaningful professional experience in food security, livelihoods, or agricultural interventions.

♦   Extensive field experience at ground level.

♦   Experience in assessments, project design, M&E, and reporting.

♦   Experience in developing concept papers, logical frameworks, donor proposals and reports.

Specific Skills:

♦   Demonstrated qualitative and quantitative data analysis skills.

♦   Ability to work independently when necessary, set realistic goals, and work within agreed timelines.

♦   Ability to articulate complex ideas and concepts verbally and in writing.

with 7-10 years experience in a field directly related to operational duties including human resource resource management and capacity building, supplies and procurement management.
Experience in leadership and operations role, plus finance monitoring is a MUST.
Experience working in healthcare delivery systems/NGO involved in HIV/AIDS work, and familiarity with donor funded projects plus possession of MBA degree constitute added advantage.

Send a Cow Uganda, (SACU) is a development Non-Governmental Organisation founded on Christian principles affiliated to Send-A-Cow United Kingdom. SACU partners with farmer communities to impart knowledge and skills that address poverty and malnutrition in simple, pragmatic ways. Currently SACU has a Governing Board comprising of five (5) Ugandans and two (2) UK representatives.

Send a Cow Uganda’s Vision is to work with vulnerable people in Uganda to overcome poverty and malnutrition in a sustainable manner through the development of animal production, organic farming and local self-sustaining groups

Send a Cow Uganda now seeks a highly experienced and mature individual to fill the position of Executive Director.

The Executive Director reports to the Chairman of the SACU Board of Directors and will be the leader of the SACU Senior Leadership team. He/she will be responsible for leading and supervising the development, implementation, maintenance, and review of the Send a Cow Uganda strategy, systems, structures, and staffing in line with the organisation’s Strategic Plan, organisational policies and procedures and recommendations from the Send a Cow – Uganda Board of Directors.

 Key Responsibilities will include:

Lead SACU in developing and implementing strategies for resource mobilization, especially fund raising, in line with the SACU strategy and funding guidelines

Provide leadership in the development, implementation and monitoring of SACU’s strategy, annual plans, programs and budgets in line with key performance targets and indicators agreed with the Board of Directors.
Direct the operations of SACU and safeguard its assets and resources and perform other related duties in consultation with the Board necessary to sustain SACU as a sustainable development institution

Initiate, implement, supervise, maintain and improve SACU’s structures, systems, procedures and guidelines which facilitate the implementation of SACU’s strategy and policy decisions as approved by the Board.
Lead the maintenance of a robust HR function, empowering and motivating employees in line with SACU’s strategy and HR Policies
Provide technical advice and feedback to the Board, on a periodic basis on actions, programs, policies, and performance of SACU as well as developments in SACU’s external environment that may impact on SACU and its operations with the aim of enhancing SACU’s spiritual, programmatic and financial impact.

Experience and Training

Should have at least 6 years post-qualification experience with at least (5) years at a senior management position/ strategic leadership role in a reputable NGO preferably with strong Christian orientation and program management and development management.
Excellent knowledge of the principles and practices of development programming and management, fundraising, networking, policy advocacy, monitoring and evaluation and donor relationship management
He/she should have demonstrable experience and a track record of liaising with development partners, developing and implementing development projects / programs, working in partnerships, financial resource management, leadership / supervision of a team or teams of people
